The titile name is from the song 'Back To December' by Taylor Swift, which is one of my favorite songs. Enjoy the story and comment!
"It's been an hour! Where's Sam?!" I said, frantically pacing in the iCarly Studio.
Freddie closed his laptop and came over to me. "Did you call her?"
"Three times!" I said. "But I'll try again."
I took out my phone and dialed Sam's number. The phone rang.
"Carls?" a voice said.
"Sam! Where are you?"
"Stuck in detention. Briggs caught me trying to text you, so she snagged my phone." Sam replied. "I stole it back."
"She's not in the room?" I asked.
"Nah. I ditched to the bathroom."
"When will you get out?" Freddie called so Sam could hear.
"About ten minutes, Fredly." Sam said.
"Ugh, fine. Just hurry up." I said.
"'Kay. Peace." Sam said before she hung-up.
I put my phone away and sighed. Typical Sam. Can't stay out of trouble for 2 seconds.
"So...now what?" Freddie said, interuppting my thoughts.
"I don't know. Wanna get a smoothie?" I offered.
Freddie shrugged. "Ok."
We walked out of the studio and downstairs.
"We're going out, Spencer!" I said.
"Waaaiit!" Spencer called, jumping out of his room. "Where to?"
"Groovy Smoothie." Freddie answered.
"Bring me a Mango Madness?"
"Ok." I said.
Spencer went back into his room and Freddie and I left.
"Uugggh! When will detention end?!" I groaned.
"When Briggs gives up on bagpipes!" Michael Calter yelled from the back.
An uproar of laughter filled the room.
"QUIET!" Briggs yelled.
"Why? You're not!" Sara Henry said.
More laughter erupted.
"I SAID QUUIIIIET!"
"Awww, Miss Briggs. We're just havin' fuuun..." I mocked.
"Do you want double detention?!"
"What? You don't have a better life to get to?" I said.
Miss Briggs grabbed her bagpiped and played a long, screeching sound. Like a bird being sucked into a vaccum cleaner. Everyone covered their ears until she stopped.
I groaned and put my head on my desk. I thanked God when it was over. Then I raced over Carly's apartment.
"Hey, Sam! It's about time!" Carly said.
"Sam's finally here?" I heard Freddork say.
"Oh, shut it dork." I said, coming inside. I sat down on the couch as Carly went into the kitchen with Fredoodle.
"Want some tea?" Carly asked.
Spencer came in covered in dirt.
"What...happened to you?" I asked.
"Fell off the roof."
Carly came back and handed me my glass. "Socko ended up stuck on his roof, so Spence went to help him down." she said.
I nodded. "Oook."
Freddie came out of the kitchen and sat by Carly.
"So what'd you get in trouble for this time?" he asked.
I rolled my eyes. "Don't test me, Frediot."
"Sam..." Carly said.
Spencer suddenly disappeared into his room, leaving us alone. "I threw a pizza slice and a melted ice cream in a cup at one of the luch ladies." I said, smirking.
"They were gonna give three day old food! I wasn't gonna eat it. I wanted a fat cake."
Carly smiled and rolled her eyes.
While Carly and Sam had their usual after school conversation (stuff like if they should go to Glitter Gloss or Build-a-Bra, cute guys at school. Ugh.), I sat in my own little world. Wondering why Carly never wanted to date me. I wasn't perfect...I know that. But I'm not like those other jerks she's gone out with, guys like Griffin and Adam. I decided to ask her. In private.
"Umm...Carly?" I said.
"Yeah, Freddie?" Carly asked, turning to me.
"Sure." she replied.
"Well, you two go talk while I go raid your fridge." Sam said, standing from the couch and heading to the. kitchen.
Carly stood up and I followed, taking a quick glance at the snow falling from the December sky. It had been a cold week, but inside Carly's home felt like Summertime.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Carly asked once we were safe in her room.
I shrugged and sat on her bed next to her, not knowing where to begin. Carly giggled.
"I...wanted...to ask," I said. "Um..."
Carly smiled. "What?" she said.
I stood up. I suddenly couldn't take sitting next to her.
"Why don't you like me?" the question blurted from my mouth.
"Freddie, we've had this conversation before. I love you...but not like that." she said.
"Is there something wrong with me?"
My blood was pumping, ignoring my mind saying to calm down.
"You talk about all these guys you've gone out with. Do you ever think about HOW that effects me?"
"The last time you talked about us dating was after the taco truck incident!" I said.
Carly was amazingly quiet. My breath slowed as my heart beat faster. I had yelled at Carly. Something I never wanted to do.
"Freddie...we had our chance." Carly said. "But you called it off."
"I know, but I thought we'd get back together after everything subsided." I said.
Carly looked down and sighed. "It's complicated, Freddie. I don't know what I want."
"Do you love me?" I asked.
She was silent.
I repeated the question. "Do you love me?!"
She looked up, then down again. "I-I don't know."
I groaned angrily. How had we gotten into this mixed up love triangle? Me, her and those other guys she's dated.
"Tell me when you know." I said. I turned and stomped down the stairs.
"Do you love me?" Freddie asked.
I was silent.
"Do you love me?!"
I looked up, then back down. "I-I don't know.
Freddie groaned angrily. "Tell me when you know." he said, leaving my room and stomping down the stairs.
"Freddie, wait!" I said, catching him before he walked out the door.
"There's no way you figured it out that quick." he said. He gave a heavy sigh and left.
"Carls, what happened?" Sam asked.
I turned around, fighting the tears trying to come out of my eyes.
"Nothing, Sam. Nothing." I said.
"No, no, no. Something happened and I want to know." Sam replied.
"I...don't want to talk about it." I said, walking back up to my room.
What did the nub do now? I thought as Carly went to her room.
They had only been up there about, what, ten minutes? I wanted answers...and I was gonna get them. I walked over to the nub's apartment and banged on the door.
"Who is it?!" someone yelled. I knew it was Fredly.
"Me, ya idiot! Open the door!" I said.
The door opened a crack and Fredington peeked out.
"What?" he said.
I resisted the sudden urge to smash his face in.
"What did you do to Carly?"
"I did nothing."
Yeah, riiight. I thought.
"Look, either tell me the truth or your gonna end up in the garbage can outside." I said. "From the window."
"I'm not in the mood for your threats, Puckett." he said.
He tried to close the door but I pushed it open. Freddork bounced off the door and fell.
Pathetic. I thought. "Now tell me what happened." I said, locking the door and blocking it.
He sat on his couch and sighed. "Ok.
Why did I say I didn't know?! I thought angrily.
Although it was true, I still shouldn't of said it. Freddie was the most caring, funny, handsome boy I knew and I STILL don't know if I love him. And it never did come to me about what I was doing to Freddie when I talked about my previous boyfriends or all these cute boys at school. I was so deep in thought that I didn't even realize someone was knocking on my door.
"Caarls? You ok in there?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I said.
"Sam's waiting for you."
I opened the door. Spencer stood before in a short sleeve, black polo shirt and grey shorts. He was smiling.
"'Kay, thanks." I said. I followed him downstairs where Sam was waiting on the couch with a piece of ham.
"Hey, Sam. Where'd you go?" I asked.
"Over to dumbo's house." Sam replied.
I was quiet for a second. "Oh..."
"What? No 'Sam, don't tease Freddie' comments?"
"Wow, you really aren't yourself, Carls." Sam said.
"What do you mean? I'm fine." I said, plastering a smile on my face.
Sam stood up and walked over to me.
"I don't know what you mean." I said.
